Q1.  Who and what is this website for?

A1. Place2Stay.net is for anyone who wants to spend a short time during their travels staying with a local person for free.  We provide a place for people to make contact, and the rest is up to you.

Q2. How safe is the personal information I enter?

A2. We will NEVER disclose nor sell any information to a third party (some details can be seen by other Place2Stay.net members - see Q3) and we will do our utmost to keep your details secure.

Q3. How much of the information I enter will be seen by other people?

A3.  a) Your e-mail address cannot be seen by anyone, not even other registered members, when you register. 

        b) When you request to stay with potential hosts, your e-mail address will be forwarded ONLY to the hosts you have selected.

        c) All other details on your registration form are open to view by registered Place2Stay.net members. (We recommend that you never put your telephone number or exact address in any of the registration fields.)

Q4.  Do I have to pay anything to use this website?

A4. No. Place2Stay.net is TOTALLY FREE.

Q5.  Is all the accommodation offered always free of charge?

A5.  Place2Stay.net aims to create a worldwide network of free private accommodation.  Therefore members are expected to offer free accommodation.

Q6. Is it compulsory to host other people after I have registered?

A6. No, but we hope you will if you can (this site will only work if people give as well as take).

Q7.  Is there any limit to the number of potential hosts I can contact during my  membership?

A7.  No.

Q8.  Is there any age limit for hosts or visitors?

A8.  No.

Q9.  Is there a limit to the number of visitors to a specific host?

A9.  The number and type of visitors is set by the host when he registers and can be seen when searching for suitable accommodation. 

Q10.  Can I view all the potential hosts without registering?

A10.  No.  Only registered members can view potential hosts, but registration is FREE.

Q11.  How accurate is the information given by members?

A11.  The information is only as accurate as entered by each member.  While we cannot guarantee the accuracy of the information entered, we expect members to present an honest picture of themselves and their accommodation.

Q12.  How safe is it to stay with hosts?

A12.  We cannot give any guarantees regarding your safety, nor can we be held responsible for your safety nor the safety of your belongings.  However,  we do recommend that potential visitors chat with hosts via our Chat Room in order to get to know each other and get a better idea of what to expect.  Use your best judgement.

Q13.  How can I make sure that visitors are the kind of people they claim, or that I would want to meet?

A13.  Again, we cannot give any guarantees.  We strongly recommend that you chat with them in advance and judge accordingly.

Q14.  Can I get recommendations or comments from other people about specific hosts?

A14.  You can check out the comments in our Forums, and you can chat with people in our Chat Room.  It will help everybody if you post your comments in the Forums after every trip.

Q15.  Can I complain anywhere about unsatisfactory hosts, or make comments or suggestions to help others?

A15. Yes, in our Forums and Chat room.  You can also contact us by clicking on the Contact Us button on the menu.

Q16.  Is the host obliged to show me around his town, or to provide anything other than a place to stay?

A16.  No.  It is entirely up to the host.

Q17.  What happens if the host backs out, or fails to supply the agreed accommodation, after I have already set out? 

A17.  Be prepared.  Have an alternative plan just in case.  If your plans change, please notify the other party as a common courtesy.

Q18.  Is there any time limit on my registration?

A18.  Registration is for one year, at which time you will receive an e-mail asking if you wish to renew it (FREE, of course).

Q19.  When registering, should I include information about my cultural/religious affiliations?

A19.  You should include any information which the visitor should be aware of, to save embarrassment or misunderstanding. It is our policy to totally oppose any type of discrimination (sex, religion, color etc.) and we ask that if you encounter anything of that sort on this site to contact us immediately.

Q20.  Do I have to mention that I keep animals or pets at home?

A20.  We recommend you do, in case the visitor has a problem with it (allergies, fears, etc.)

Q21.  Can I change or update my details?

A21.  Yes.  Please keep your details up to date.  You can do this by clicking on the Edit Details button on the menu at any time.

Q22.  Can I participate in the chat rooms and forums without registering?

A22.  Yes, chat rooms and forums are open and free for everybody without registration.  However, to post messages in the Forums, you have to register at Place2Stay.net (free of course).

Q23.  How do I cancel my membership?

A23.  Click on Edit Details on the menu and select Cancel Membership.
